Comically Vintage

If you ever wonder why I post random comic book bits every now and then, you have Comically Vintage to thank. They post scenes from old comic books, and other fun stuff.  Worth checking out if you’re a comic fan.

My latest article for Shiny Shelf is an interview with author Geoffrey Thorne regarding his upcoming comic book series Prodigal and more!

Punisher / Frankenstein Remix

OK, so they killed off Punisher in the recent Dark Reign:  The List - Punisher special.  Chopped him to bits.

And he gets brought back as a Frankenstein wannabe?

Really?  Like this will stick any longer than Superman’s “electricity” outfit?

First the travesty that was One More Day, then Ultimatum and now this?  Spider-Man can’t catch a break. LOL

Animal Man issue 56, the conclusion to the Flesh and Blood storyline (one of my favorites).  Old school, from 1992 / 1993.  Animal Man becomes the embodiment of all nature and its beasts… Brian Bolland’s cover rocks.  Too bad Steve Pugh’s interior art didn’t come close to matching it (while Animal Man’s new form looks fearsome and flat-out awesome on the cover, Pugh’s illustration of the character looks silly).  Probably a run of a series that is sadly overlooked too often.

Marvelman Cometh?

Come on, now that Marvel owns the rights to Marvelman (nigh Miracleman), let’s get moving on those reprints!  I need A Dream of FlyingThe Red King SyndromeOlympus, and The Golden Age on my bookshelf stat (without paying an arm and a leg for them on eBay)!  And let Neil Gaiman finish The Silver Age and The Dark Age so we can complete one of the greatest comic book series EVAH.

Marvelman or Miracleman… by Tom Nelson

Miracleman, definitely Miracleman. Far superior name.

One of my favorite comics EVAH… I’m partial to Marvelman since that’s the character’s original name.
